tonight i cooked japanese curry rice for the roomie, eelis and ying zi... hahahah first time cooking in quite a while.. and i must say.. the jap curry rice this time round is much much better than the last. last time i attempted to cook... it turn out very starchy, a result of putting the potatoes in for most of the cooking process... and it was not as tasty as it shd have been.. probably because the curry paste was lesser in ratio to the ingredients. heh.. well anyways, this time round i used chicken instead of beef (chicken is alway the SAFE choice) and cos i didn't have the time to look for the cut of beef i wanted to use in the curry. we didn't have onions as well.. heh had to borrow from nikki!! *thanx girl! will give u back 2* this time round however, i used more paste than the ingredients... but one problem was that i boiled the potatoes till they were just right and added them in like a few mins before i served but it was still a bit hard.. (must look into the right timing for nice soft potatoes that won't disintergrate) i guess it's pretty easy to cook jap curry.. cos u just follow the instructions at the back of the box, but i suggest:

• using butter instead of oil... dunno to me it tasted better...
• and nv add ur potatoes in for like most of the cooking process.. maybe add them in abt 10 mins before serving..
• instead of just simmering for 5 mins.. simmer slightly longer...

so yah just a few suggestions for those who wanna try jap curry out.. but i mean all these are my personal opinions.. so yah.. it may not necessarily work for u... heh! try at own risk! now...... if my up coming jap paper was this easy.. i think i wld have scored an 85% grade for it.. heh! i'm that sure for the jap curry.. i only wish i cld be so sure abt the jap paper! heh! better study for it since i'm not going to be able to cook my way thru!!
